When the sonder boat Cima III (designed 1913 by Mower, formerly owned by Lowell) left port in 1916 lashed to the deck of the United Fruit Company's steamer Esparta and destined for Havana, Cuba, the tenth boat of this popular class now owned by Cubans lovers of yachting. The 10 yachts of the sonder class which have been bought by Cubans for racing between the Havana Yacht Club and the Vedado Tennis Club are the fastest yachts of the sonder class ( Sprig, Ellen III ,Cima III ,Robin and Harpoon II etc )

The results of the first races in Cuba
HAVANA, Cuba.--The Sprig of the Havana Yacht Club and commanded by Vice-Commodore John Washington is winning the CUBAN SONDER CLASS TROPHY by defeating the Ellen of the Vedado Tennis Club in the final race for the Havana Yacht Club championship cup
HAVANA, Cuba-Sep 8, 1916--The Vedado Tennis Club is holding now the Washington cup. Ellen (1913 designed by Burgess, and formerly owned by Curtis ) defeats seven defending yachts.
